After completing Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto Girish worked for Schlumberger Oilfield Services as an exploration engineer and gained experience nationally and internationally over five years. Through his work in the energy sector he developed an interest in finance and decided to pursue his MBA at Rotman with the goal of switching to a finance related role. He will be working in RBC’s Investment Banking division as a member of their Global Energy group over the summer of 2012.
Ankur completed a degree in Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and then spent 5 years in various technology consulting roles. First, as a Technology Consultant for Deloitte, and then as a Business Consultant for BMO. This summer, Ankur will be working on the trading floor at RBC Capital Markets on the FX Options desk.
Originally from Montreal, Andre Jr. Ayotte moved to Toronto in 2011 to pursue an MBA at Rotman School of Management and to continue a career in the field of Finance. Prior to Rotman, he studied International Business at McGill University and upon graduation, Andre Jr. began to work for National Bank of Canada as a Director in the commercial banking team. He eventually transferred to the international department at National Bank where he worked as an International Trade Manager. Upon completion of his first MBA year, Andre Jr. worked as a Sales & Trading Associate for a leading Canadian financial institution where he sat at the institutional Foreign Exchange sales desk for the summer 2012.
After completing a computer engineering degree, Ali worked in IT industry developing software for financial institutes for six years. Ali then returned to Rotman to pursue an MBA, and a career in finance. He spent his summer at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan in the Tactical Asset Allocations group. Ali is a passionate sports fan and a certified soccer referee.
After completing his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Toronto, Gaurav worked as an ASIC Design & Layout Engineer for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Desiring a broader knowledge base and a career change, Gaurav left AMD after 4 years to pursue his MBA at Rotman with the goal of switching into finance. This summer Gaurav will be working at BMO Capital Markets as an Equity Research Associate. Gaurav is a level III candidate in the CFA program.
After completing his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University, Ny spent 6 years working within the financial services industry in New York City; the last 4 years at investment manager Millennium Partners where he supported the Fixed Income trading group. This summer, Ny is working within the Private Fixed Income Investments group at Sun Life Financial. He hopes to continue a career in investment management upon graduation from Rotman.
Maryam studied mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto. Prior to her MBA, Maryam worked in the financial industry for four years, focusing primarily on financial advising and corporate and commercial credit risk management. Maryam has completed the three levels of the CFA program and is one of the Heather L. Main Memorial Scholarship recipients. She will spend her summer as an associate at Scotiabank in their Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions and Equity Capital Markets rotation program.
After completing a degree in Economics & Mathematics from the University of Toronto, Poria spent 3 years as a Project Manager/Internal Consultant with a boutique engineering consulting firm, focusing on Oil & Gas projects. Prior to that he was a Compliance Analyst at State Street; currently he is with the Project Management Office of AEGON Canada. He is interested in pursuing a career in capital markets after graduation.
